8/10/2022 - INFORMATION REGARDING STATEWIDE DROUGHT WATCH

On Tuesday, August 9th NJDEP Commissioner LaTourette declared a Drought Watch for the entire State. The purpose of the Drought Watch is to sow public awareness and appreciation of the stress upon water supply sources and encourage voluntary water conservation measures. These measures include, but are not necessarily limited to, reducing water used for irrigation by the use of rain barrels or drip irrigation and only watering when absolutely necessary, avoiding recreational toys that require a constant supply of water, covering pools when not in use and using a water saving filter, washing your motor vehicle only at a car wash as they typically recycle a significant amount of water, and raising your lawnmower blade to at least 3 inches to promote a deeper root system. In addition, as a result of the higher than normal temperatures we have experienced for most of the month of August, the Township water supply system has seen a 25% increase in demand for this same period over the last four years. We will update this notice once conditions change.
