Burlington Township is seeking an Environmental Engineer Trainee for work on various engineering projects. This position primarily involves, but is not limited to, design, bidding and construction oversight of municipal potable water and sanitary sewer improvement projects; reviewing water & sanitary sewer engineering aspects of residential and commercial land development applications for compliance with municipal codes and accepted standards; coordinating plan review with the Township Water & Sewer Departments; performing field inspections and preparation of punch lists. Additional duties include: preparation of New Jersey Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NJPDES) Permit application; updating and executing the Pollutant Minimization Plan (PMP) to locate the source and reduce the level of PCBs in the effluent discharged to the Delaware River; assisting the Water Plant Operator in preparing the annual Consumer Confidence Report; preparation of Water Allocation Permit application; reviewing TWA and WME Permit applications; and providing technical assistance to the Water and Sewer Departments on engineering, operational and environmental compliance issues related to the Township’s water and sewage treatment plants as well as the water distribution and sanitary sewer collection systems, including pumping and treatment equipment design. All engineering work shall be performed under the oversight of the Township Engineer. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology from an accredited college or university. A NJ EIT certificate and/or a NJ Professional Engineer’s license is a plus. Water and/or Sewer Treatment Facility operator’s license is a plus. Candidates shall be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel. Familiarity with the use of ArcGIS and/or AutoCAD 2020 is preferred. The salary ranges from $90,000 and up, contingent on experience.
